(Ashton) (Doiron)
Formerly of Montreal, Que. Passed away at Grass Nursing Home, Riverview, NB on October 6, 2012 at the age of 95. Born in Port Elgin, NB to Laurent and Virginnie (Ouellette) Doiron (Gould). She began her working career at the Aluminum Co. of Canada in Arivda, Que., A.R. Williams, Montreal and the majority of years until retirement for Gillette of Canada, Montreal, Que. as Assistant Personnel Manager. During her working years and afterwards she enjoyed her chalet in the Laurentians. Upon her retirement she was a Snowbird to the Daytona Beach area where she enjoyed Crafts, Shuffleboard, Painting Classes and Bridge to the age of 92. She was a great sport upon learning why the medical staff were a-twitter over her last name. After some prompting she could show them a "decent photo" of her "boys". She was a breast cancer survivor from the age of 83.
Adrienne is predeceased by her first husband, Charles Ashton and second husband James Chippendale. The last surviving member of her immediate family she was also predeceased by her sisters, Dorita Jaehrling (Logan), Carmelita McQuade (Muzeral) (Dion), Marie Bourque and a brother Arthur Gould, and a step-son Howard Ashton (Eleanor).
Adrienne is sadly missed and survived by a grandson, Howard Ashton; sister-in-law Phyllis Gould; she was very kind and generous to her nieces and nephews, Christopher Read, Virginia Brisebois, Anne Stevens (Harold), Paul Bourque (Elaine), John Bourque, Rachelle Dow (David), Peter Bourque (Heather), Henry Bourque (Margaret), Isabelle Gould, Suzanne Strother, Lawrence Gould and Joanne Gould and children of her nieces and nephews. She will be missed by a family friend Ola Williams.
Adrienne's remains have been cremated under the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (902-667-8777). By her request there will be no visitation or services. A private interment will be held at the St. Clement's Parish Cemetery, Port Elgin at a later date. Donations may be made to St. Clement's Cemetery, Port Elgin, NB, the Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
