Alfred was the third of Joe and Mary Bobinski's four sons.

Hitler's invasion of Poland stirred Alfred to enlist in the Navy as a boy sailor in 1943. He would go on to serve in the engine room of the HMCS Rivière du Loup , a corvette that escorted convoys of essential supplies from Canada to Great Britain.

Uncle Freddie was always loved by I and my brother Joe and Giselle. We loved all our uncles and aunts in Montreal. Freddie Always treated us at an adult level even though we were the younger clan of the whole Bobinski family. Never any drama with this great man. I think I can claim the same thickness of hair as Freddie and was always proud to point That out to my friends. I was honored when he flew down to Florida for my first wedding to be at my side. He always kept in touch by phone and I was sad to hear of his passing. My love to my god mother Diane.

So sad to hear of Fred's passing. I grew up a few houses away and I will always remember the stories he told me about his days in the Canadian Navy and his parents milk delivery business. God bless!!

Kevin & I are so, so sorry to hear about Uncle Freddie's passing. Both he & your Mom are permanent pages in my memories; I always saw them sitting on the porch on my walks to school every day....I DO hope that soon the tears will stop falling & you will have nothing but a smile on your face & joy in your heart when you think of him & your Mom together again...Tell stories often; he was a great man with a lot of interesting stories to tell...it is now up to YOU to keep his memory alive....he will not be forgotten...Goodbye, Uncle Freddie...XXXOOO~~~

Very sad but at least Uncle Freddy led a long and quite healthy life. He lived much longer than my father who passed away 34 years ago. My deepest condolences to Dianne and Barbara. Another page turned over in the history of the Bobinski family.
