1930 - 2012 Allen passed away peacefully in his 82nd year on October 3, 2012 at the Dr. Bob Kemp (DBK) Hospice in Hamilton, Ontario. He is survived by his wife Korrine D'Arcey and his children James (Patricia), Randy (Piper), Jarrett, Brad (Meghan), and Andrea (Daniel) and 10 grandchildren, and by stepchildren Myles (Margaret), Dean (Marilea), Shaun (Jill), and Erin (Danny) and 9 step-grandchildren. Allen was preceded in death by his three brothers Arnold, Maynard, and Lester. Allen was born in Eureka, South Dakota and grew up in Wishek, North Dakota, graduating from the College of Business and Public Administration at the University of North Dakota in 1956. He worked for the Quebec Cartier Mining Company for 38 years, retiring in 1994 from his position as Vice-President of Sales, Materials Management, and Business Development. In retirement, Allen became involved with the Board of Directors - Finance for Twenty Place in Mount Hope, Ontario. He also travelled frequently and indulged his love for card playing and the game of golf, contributing many colourful phrases to the sport's lexicon. With the dissolution of his beloved Expos, Allen refocused his enthusiasm for baseball on the Blue Jays, becoming one of their staunchest critics. Though he will be remembered fondly for his love of competition, it is Allen's gregarious nature, charming smile, and unquestioning generosity that will be missed most dearly. Allen passed away in the presence of his loved ones and under the compassionate care of the staff of the DBK Hospice, to whom his family is forever grateful. Thanks also to Dr. Leonard for his thoughtful care at the Juravinski Cancer Centre and to his long-time physician Dr. Zizzo. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the DBK Hospice www.kemphospice.org/
