McENTEE, Catherine Bridgett
18 February 1928 – 17 May 2012
Catherine Bridgett McEntee, (nee Rooney) of Inniskeen, County Monaghan, Ireland. She came to Montreal in 1957 with her husband Michael and settled in St-Laurent (QC) to raise their family. After a valiant battle with heart disease, Catherine has joined her late husband to walk the "The Stoney Grey Fields of Monaghan" once more. A retired employee of the CIBC, her family was her pastime, she was most proud of 54 years of marriage to our Dad and of the laughter and song that filled our home. She was an active member and supporter of Montreal's Irish community, her gaiety, laughter and love of dance was well renowned. Proud mother to Maureen (Alan), Michael (Marika), Catherine (Dany) and Patricia (Patrick); grandmother to Peter, Ewan, Sean, Liam, Erin and Michael Jr. Predeceased by her husband Michael J. McEntee, and parents Matthew Rooney and Bridget Shevlin, (Ireland). She is survived by her sister Christina (Ireland), many nieces and nephews throughout Ireland, USA and Canada. Mom, you were an inspiration to us all this past year as you battled illness, and we now take comfort knowing you are with Dad once again, hearing him sing the Fields of Athenry. In lieu of flowers, donations to the School of Canadian Irish Studies at Concordia University would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday, 23 May 2- 5 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. at Armstrong Rideau Funeral Home 1640 Cote Vertu, Ville St Laurent, QC. Funeral, Thursday, 24 May 1pm at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 875 Marcel Laurin, St Laurent QC. Interment to follow at Cemetery St Laurent, 805 St Croix.
