LAMBERT, Dr. David Charles
1938 - 2014
Surrounded by his family at the palliative care centre in Sherbrooke, Dave Lambert passed away on August 30, 2014. He fought an aggressive prostate cancer the last two years of his life, but departed peacefully and in good care. Son of Walter Lambert and Muriel Cornfield, he was born and raised in Thornaby-On-Tees, England. He immigrated to Canada, where he continued his medical profession. Specializing in Orthopedic surgery, Dr. Lambert retired after fifty years of practice. Always the thrill-seeker, he spent much of his time climbing, skiing and kayaking. He was also known for his tireless pursuit of knowledge, whether it be in sciences, philosophy or history. Dave lived to the fullest and inspired many who knew him. He is survived by his wife Alice Seide; his two sons Alexander (Sasha) Lambert and Brandon Lambert; his sister Sue Clifford; his brother Mike Garbutt; cousin Ian Dobinson; as well as many friends and family. A Public Visitation will be held at the Steve Elkas Funeral Home (601 Conseil Street, Sherbrooke, QC J1G 1K4; 819-565-1155; www.steveelkas.com) on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 7:00-10:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 6 from 9:00-11:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to either la Maison Aube Lumière, 3071, 121th Avenue North, Sherbrooke, QC J1H5H3, the hospice at which he received tremendously comprehensive care in his last moments, or Dying With Dignity, 802-55 Eglington Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario M4P 1G8, (www.dyingwithdignity.ca), an organisation which Dave actively supported, would be greatly appreciated.
