It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Desmond McGirr on JulyW 13th. Des worked as an electrician with Nortel for 42 years and was a representative of the local union for many years working tirelessly to enhance conditions for those he represented. Des took up running and biking in his retirement and participated in several marathons. Des was the son of the late Mary and Pat McGirr. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet. He is survived by his sister Jean Donohue and predeceased brother Gerald. He was a great father to Desmond (Ann), Donald (Mary Anne), Susan (Orlando), David (Patricia) and Derek, loving family of Muriel. He will be deeply missed by Donna (Kevin), Doug (Pancy), and the late Doreen, family of Janet. Proud grandfather of Lee Anne, Kevin, Kyle, Melissa, Brittany, Shannon, Brendan, Caitlin, Sean, Christopher and Emily. Visitation will be on Friday, July 19, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Yves Légaré with the Funeral to be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Funeral Complex.
