TUCKER, Elrie Clifford
1932 - 2015
Montreal's first black Obstetrician and Gynaecologist passed away on January 14th after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Trinidad, Elrie immigrated to Canada to attend McGill University. He was a medical pioneer and strong advocate for women's health in Montreal: In addition he founded the Quebec Black Medical Association for the advancement of young black medical professionals. He leaves behind his wife Penelope; three children Christian, Holly and Clive; and three grandchildren, Ean, Mia and Lily. He is also survived by three siblings, Eric, Rae and Oliver. Thanks go to the Angio Unit at the Montreal General Hospital; and to Dr. Jeremy Sturgeon for his sterling support through tough times. In lieu of a Funeral,
a "Celebration of his Life" will take
place in the Spring. Stay tuned !
