POWELL, Gail Joyce
1954 – 2014
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gail Joyce Powell at the age of 59 at the Lakeshore General Hospital after a difficult three-month struggle due to the complications of a severe stroke suffered in early January. Gail had a simple but beautiful philosophy of life, finding joy in the love of friends and family, in a spiritual poem or a joyful song. She was a devoted Christian who was always ready to reach out selflessly to help a soul in need. She will be deeply missed by her many friends and acquaintances she connected with over the years, and of course, her loving family. Gail was the oldest of seven siblings, leaving behind her beloved sister Gloria (Samir) and brothers Bill (Denise), David (Santina), Ronald (Anna), John (Helena) and Tom (Carol). She was also the dear aunt of Christian (Melissa), Jennifer, Mathieu, David, Catherine, Grace, Faith, Christina, Amy, Victoria, Timothy, Keegan and Michael and was predeceased by her loving parents William Baden Powell and Shirley Joyce Knowles. The family will welcome guests on Wednesday afternoon and evening April 16 at the Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home, 222 Highway 20, Pointe-Claire, QC., (Corner Cartier Ave.) from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday morning, April 17, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gail's name to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, www.heartandstroke.com, or to the charity of your choice.
