FABES, Grant S.
It is with greatest sorrow that the family announces the passing of Grant S. Fabes. He passed on March 4, 2013, surrounded by his wife Joyce, and daughter Kendra, son-in-law Joseph, and grandson Nathanyl. Grant lead a full life, dedicated to his family, and to the education of our youth. He had a notable career with the Montreal Catholic School Commission, where he strived diligently to further the educational quality of services offered to all students attending the public English Catholic school system. He served as guidance councillor, teacher, principal, district director, and ended his career as the head of Pedagogical Services. Once retired, he began his second career of service with the Air Cadet League of Canada. His knowledge and expertise allowed him quickly to rise through the organization, and became President of the Air Cadet League of Canada in 2010. He had a vast impact on both military and civilian aspects of the League, and was instrumental in developing league and industry partnerships resulting in over $75,000 in scholarships and awards. He was graced with many awards, the most prestigious being the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in acknowledgement of outstanding service to Canada. His loss will be felt by many, including his brother Norman (Gwen), his sister-in laws and brother-in-laws Veronica & William Kerr, Rosemary & Robert Malone, and John & Ann Hachey, as well as his nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral visitation and services will be held at Kane & Fetterly Funeral Home, 5301 Decarie Blvd. (corner Isabella) on Saturday March 9, 2013. Visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m., service at 2:00 p.m. Private burial. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Societé de Soins Palliatifs or to the Air Cadet League of Canada.
