JONES, Helen Margaret
(nee Proudfoot)
Born December 13, 1924. It is with great sadness that we announce Helen's sudden passing on Monday, July 30th 2012 at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Pointe Claire, Quebec. Helen, also known as Hoddy, was the beloved wife of Arch Roy Campbell Jones for 58 years, and the loving mother of Will, Marg, Wendy, Archie and George. She adored her grandchildren Elisabeth and James Armstrong-Jones. Hoddy loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was an active member in the community of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue and during her lifetime was well-loved by the countless people she helped, many of them newly-arrived Canadians. She was a strong believer in volunteer work and gave generously of her time to the Morgan Arboretum, Saint George's Church, Meals on Wheels, and was a founding member of the Lakeshore Volunteer Bureau during the 1970's. Amongst her favourite social and intellectual activities were the Senneville Book Club and the One O'Clock Club. She was also an enthusiastic supporter of local businesses such as T.W.I.G.S and the Sainte Anne's Market. Hoddy and Arch enjoyed many outdoor pursuits, frequently skiing in the Canadian Ski Marathon, and canoeing, swimming and cycling during the summer months. Helen lived a full and vigorous life, and her cup overflowed with vitality right to the very end. Her powerful life force lifted the spirits of all who were fortunate enough to bathe in her exquisite and radiant beauty. Helen will be sorely missed by her family and friends. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 9th 2012 at Saint George's Church in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec. Interment to be announced at a later date in Toronto. Donations to the Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Saint George's Anglican Church in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, in her name, would be gratefully received. Condolences and messages for the family can can be sent to dearhoddy@gmail.com
