MACKEY, Helen (nee Poole)
Passed away on November 28 at the age
of 93. Predeceased by husband Donald Mackey, parents Ernest George Poole and Mary Gertrude Poole (Bryerton), brother Theodore (Ted), and sister Mary Biers (Cochrane, ON). Loved and sadly missed by her sister Elizabeth (Betty) Brochocki (Deux Montagnes) and many nieces and nephews. Much loved also by her friends and former students. A graduate of McGill (BA '41), Helen enjoyed great success as a teacher and consultant for the Protestant School Board of Montreal, especially at Strathcona Academy and Outremont High School. She will be remembered for her life-long passion for music, the visual arts, and the English language. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 8th, 2012 at 2 pm at the Church of St John the Evangelist, 137 President Kennedy Ave. Montreal. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's memory may be made to the Schulich School of Music of McGill University (Donald Mackey Memorial Prize), or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
