April 7, 1941 - November 28, 2013
On Thursday, November 28, 2013 in Toronto, Ontario. Son of the late Eunice and the late Eli Westelman. Loving and adored father and father-in-law of Matthew and Danna, and Adam. Loving "Zaizie" to Zoe. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Rhona Spanier and John Macdonald, Phil and Cookie, Joel and Janet, and the late Karen (Grant Reynolds). Unlike so many of us, Danny followed his dreams; The Catskills, New York, nightclubs around the world, Los Angeles, movies and television. He made them laugh and wowed them with his natural gifts. A very funny and talented man, he will be terribly missed by his family, Beverly, nieces, nephews and many friends and colleagues. Burial will take place in Los Angeles. Shiva from Dec. 4 to 8, 1330 Raimbault, St. Laurent, 2:00 to 5:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Luigi Mario, my favorite character because YOU brought Luigi to LIFE for us. I get to see you as Luigi and Lou as Mario whenever I want thanks to the boxed set DVDs but the world got dimmer without your light Mr. Westleman. You are missed and much beloved by millions of us. We will never forget you. I will never forget you. Thank you for keeping us laughing!

I´m so very sorry that I am a little bite late which i found out that the very talented actor Danny Wells passing, he will be truly missed, yet never be forgotten. I truly remember or should I say that everyone remember watching the Jefferson January 18,1975- July 2,1985 that Danny Wells aka Charlie Co-star Sherman Hensley aka George Jefferson and we know Charlie who owns a bar on the 1st floor in the Luxury Apartments building where the Jefferson, Willie´s & Mr. Bentley lives Which Charlie´s helps to solve their problems or just talks to them. Thank you for the memories and the laughter.. We all know that he´s in a good place now, has reunited with the people that he worked with, reminiscing at the bar seven drinks. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I grew up watching Mr. Wells as Luigi on the Super Mario Bros Super Show. Both Mr. Wells and Captain Lou were and still are my childhood heroes. That show got me through some tough times. They will always be the Mario Bros to me. Thanks for the laughs and the memories.

I knew Danny in the late 1980's when his boy Matt played ball in the Encino Little League and I coached there. Danny and I had great conversations in the stands. His wit and warmth is something I've often thought of. Ran into one of my fellow coaches today at lunch who informed me of Danny's passing and we both exchanged fond remembrances. Peace to him and his family.

Danny will be greatly missed here at Noble Caplan Abrams, by all of us. He was the epitome of a classy guy, always had a kind word for everyone he met. A pleasure to be around, a fountain of stories. He shared my love for Australian Shepherd dogs and we loved to swap stories of all the dogs we'd loved and lost. Sorry I never did get out for a game of golf with you, Danny. Hope you rest in peace.

Danny was a good friend for over 10 years and I loved him like family. He helped me with so much good advice in this crazy business of show. I am thankful for his friendship and always being there for me, coming to my shows, and all of his amazing stories of the good ol' days. I will miss my friend very much and the many great times we sat, ate and drank and talked and laughed for hours. I know he is up in heaven opening for Sinatra again.

I always watched Danny act alongside Captain Lou Albano when he was in my favorite TV show, the "Super Mario Bros. Super Show!" Fantastic animated series, and Danny brought so much humor and dynamism to the Luigi plumber character he portrayed.
Danny Wells was a great man and I hope his legacy continues to live on. It's truly a sad loss.

As a young child, I adored the Super Mario show, such that Danny and Lou were the only childhood heroes I ever had or needed. I'm so grateful for all the joy he brought me back then.

Growing up in the 80s I knew Mr. Westelman as Luigi on the Super Mario Bros Super Show. His role as Luigi meant a great deal to me, as the show brought me great comfort from being very badly bullied. It was my escape from the cruelty others inflicted on me. I will be forever grateful for all of the laughs he gave me at the end of horrible days. While I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person or sending him that fan letter I had wanted to for years, just know that he will always have a place in my heart, and he will always be one of my childhood Heroes.
