1930 - 2012
Kevin Reed, 82 of Lasalle, Quebec, after an extended battle of 15 years with cancer, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 16, 2012 at his home. Born in Verdun, Quebec to Jim and Ann Reed he lived most of his life in Lasalle with his family. Kevin is survived by his wife Norma of almost 52 years, son Jim (Jennifer), daughter Debbie (Jonathan), sisters Maureen, Irene, Noreen, Alicia, Teresa, and Linda. He also leaves grandchildren Michael, Jack and Harry and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Kevin was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. A diehard Giants and Yankees fan as well as an avid scrabble player, he finished many a Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle and loved his classical music. He also enjoyed cooking and when prompted (or not) would tell a funny joke or an entertaining story. He also had an exceptional 32 year career at Greyhound Bus Lines making many lifelong friends. He was a kind, thoughtful, strong, intelligent and loving man and generous to a fault. He possessed the gift of making you laugh and smile when you needed it most. That was how he lived, making a so-so day a bright one. Kevin was a good hearted and easy going person to all who knew and loved him. He will never be forgotten, and will be in our hearts forever. A special thank you to the Oncology Department of St. Mary's Hospital, and especially to Dr. Joan Zidulka for her kindness and dedication over the years. Thank you also to the nursing and support staff for their tireless efforts and the kind and thoughtful care of the CLSC visiting nurses, especially Cheryl Skinner. Finally, thank you to Doctors Carl Emond, Scott Kenick, Harold Zackon and Nilay Ozen. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 5:00PM and 7:00 - 9:00PM on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd, Dollard Des Ormeaux, QC H9B 2A6.
