It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Madeleine Mallet on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Pointe Claire, Quebec. She was a very young 91 years of age. Born in Kelowna, British Columbia, the daughter of the late Gordon McCosh and Isabelle Smith, Madeleine spent her youth in France and Great Britain. She returned to Canada after the outbreak of the Second World War and studied at both Queens and Laval Universities. She was a journalist in Quebec City until her marriage to the late Jacques Mallet. Theirs was a loving marriage of fifty- two years. The very dear daughter-in-law of the late Aline Demers Mallet, Madeleine was predeceased by her in-laws Claude and Claire Mallet, Aline and Pierre Jorré, and Gaston Mallet. She will be greatly missed by her nephews and nieces, Gaston Jorré, Rona Tietolman, Paul and Manon Mallet, cousin Andrée Fontaine as well as other relatives, friends and acquaintances who valued her warmth and wit and many years of devotion to volunteer activities in Hudson. Madeleine's life will be celebrated on May 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Collins Clarke MacGillvray White Funeral Home located at 27 Salisbury Avenue (exit 49, highway 20), Pointe Claire, Quebec. A reception will follow. The family will be receiving condolences at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Madeleine's memory to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
