Muriel was a dear friend and colleage during my time in Halifax as Executive Director of the Nova Scotia NDP. We spent many evenings sitting around the
kitchen table at her home in Halifax.
I valued her wise council and commitment to the Party. Muriel was instrumental in encouraging women to become more involved and take on roles at the Executive level and stand as candidates. She lead the way by putting her own name forward on many occasions even though there was no chance of winning.
Muriel will be dearly missed by all her
many friends and family. She left us
richer for having known her.

Our condolences to Muriel's family and our gratitude for having shared Muriel with us over these many years. I had the honour of succeeding Muriel, at her insistence, as president of Movement For Citizens Voice and Action in Halifax in the 70's. It was always a joy simply to be in her presence. Her unwavering committment to social justice and peace moved mountains. That she was truly a global citizen is evidenced by the report of her passing in the Dominion Post here in Wellington New Zealand. Muriel's wise council and inspired leadership demonstrated how we can all do our part in the struggle for a better world.

My condolences to Muriel's family. My son Austin (who is a 4th cousin)and I (a 3rd cousin)enjoyed our visit with her at her cottage. Even though Austin was quite young back then, he said he remembers that day. So glad we were able to meet this amazing woman.
