TILDEN, Olive E. "Pixie "
(nee Rand)
On June 30th, 2013 at the age of 81 with her family at her side. Beloved wife of the late Ted Tilden and loving mother of Rand, Bill, Tricia, Elizabeth, Susan, Richard, Tori and Ted and their spouses and loving grandmother to her 17 grandchildren. Dear sister of Dr. William Rand of Vancouver and Sherrill Harrison of Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. She was a lifelong resident of Montreal, a graduate of nursing and a volunteer at the Royal Victoria Hospital. She was the president of both the Alumnae and Auxiliary of the RVH and also served on the Board of Directors. She received the Distinguished Service Award from the RVH in 1989. Growing up with the name of Ollie, Ted, the love of her life, renamed her "Pixie". Small of stature, she had a lively spirit and a heart of gold. Though she was predeceased by Ted, her husband of 38 years, she maintained a frenetic pace travelling the world and visiting her far flung children and grandchildren. Her life was spent looking after others. Always smiling, always busy, always caring and always thinking of ways to help family, friends and others unknown to her. There never was a bigger, kinder heart. She will be sorely missed. A private visitation for family and close friends will be held at Kane & Fetterly Funeral home, 5301 Decarie (corner Isabella) on Wednesday, July 10th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Please join the family for a memorial gathering to toast Pixie's life at Mount Royal Commemorative Services Complexe, 1297 Forest Rd., Outremont on Thursday, July 11th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the MUHC Foundation and/or the Cedar Cancer Foundation would be appreciated. Condolences may be received at www.kanefetterly.com.
