Richard Zeidler Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 24 to Nov. 26, 2015.

Richard Zeidler 1937 - 2015

After a valiant struggle, Richard passed away on the 21st November 2015, with his wife by his side.

He will be sorely missed by his wife Maureen, three sons, Geoffrey, Michael and Philip, four step sons Darrell, Howard, Warren and Kevin Huxham and eighteen grand children. For them and many friends around the world, his life provided much to celebrate.

Richard lived his early life in London, survived the Blitz, and attended Haileybury & Imperial Service College. He trained as an Electronics Engineer and joined EMI where he started his first career selling and installing large TV station equipment around the world, including South Africa and South America. He married Jill, and they lived in Australia and Malaysia before returning to the UK.

His second career started when he left EMI to set up Ace Office Cleaners, which over 15 years he built into a company employing over 2,000 people. He was an avid golfer and as the men's captain of the Beaconsfield Golf Club, UK, he was invited to Canada to play in the Phoenix Invitational, where he met Maureen. They married in 1985 and this was the start of his third career as a travel consultant.

He established Voyages Different and specialised in building cruise holidays for his many clients. He could be heard every Sunday morning on the CJAD travel slot with Dave Fisher, which ran for 20 years.

Richard was a "larger than life" character, adventurous, optimistic and with a great sense of mischief and fun. He was generous and loved entertaining and was incredibly proud of all his family and grandchildren.

His life will be celebrated on Saturday 28th November at Collins Clarke Funeral Parlour on 222 Autoroute 20, Pointe Claire H9S 3X6 with Visitation from 11.00 and a Service at 12.00. The service will be available to view online. In lieu of flowers, please provide donations in his name to the West Island Palliative Care Residence at 300, Stillview, Pointe Claire H9R 0A1.

My condolences in the passing of Mr Zeidler. He was my travel agent in Kirkland and would deliver tickets to our door. We never did chat very much, but he was always pleasant, quite tall, and spoke with Queen's accent. He is already very much missed. Regards John Dykeman

To Richard's family and friends,

I was saddened to hear of Richard's passing while listening to Dave Fisher last weekend. When Richard told us that he was leaving his Sunday morning travel report last fall, I knew he would be sorely missed. He had such a wonderful voice and superb descriptions of where he was and what he was up to at that very moment. You could picture it in your mind and see yourself there. He lead such a wonderfully varied and fulfilling life. Please accept my deepest condolences.

Sincerely,

Ken Chevrier

My dear Maureen
How well I remember the times that you, Richard and I had dinners-after-ticket-delivery! And the times you both were here for Tree Party. Richard was my inspiration to travel, and my willing assistant in making the plans. I shall miss him.

It was wonderful to hear the stories of his travel adventures and new places to visit. He will be sadly missed. My deepest condolances to his famiily. B.Sweet

I am deeply saddened to hear of Richard's death. I have known Richard since he first arrived in Canada and since that time I've considered Maureen and Richard to be two of my best friends. Even though we were 3,000 miles apart we visited regularly. Richard's advice, support and reliability provided a source of stability in my life. We spent many good and fun times together. I shall miss him dearly.
