Robert SAUL Obituary

Published by Monteal Gazette on Jan. 9, 2016.
SAUL, Robert (Bob) Charles
February 21, 1930 – December 24, 2015
It is with great sadness that the family of Bob Saul announces his passing on Christmas Eve at the age of 85 years in Kingston, Ontario. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife Betty (nee Stevenson) Saul; his children Debbie (Charles), Nancy, Greg (Robbin) and Rick (Heather). Cherished grandfather of Jason, Scott (Chantal), Jeffrey, Melissa, Andrew, Matthew, Neil and William. Predeceased by his daughter Dianne. Born and raised in Verdun, Quebec, Bob graduated from McGill University and his dedicated career spanned over five decades as a math teacher and school administrator throughout Montreal and the surrounding areas. Bob volunteered with minor sports in St Lambert, Quebec. He volunteered with the Fort Henry Annual Tattoo and sat as a community member on the Admissions Committee of the Queen's University School of Medicine. Bob could sing, write, and act. He co- wrote an educational math series and performed it on CBC TV Montreal. Bob once refereed a basketball game at the Montreal Forum with the Harlem Globetrotters, while playing along with their antics. Bob loved reading, music and was an avid audiophile. He had a keen ear for sound and his knowledge of high-fidelity equipment was extensive. His audio expertise was always in demand. Bob had a good sense of humour, was a good listener and was patient and kind. He will be missed by all who knew him. Special thanks to the staff at Arbour Heights for their care, to Father Haynes Hubbard for his kindness, and to Bob's palliative care team in the Cardiology Department (Brock 1) at the Hotel Dieu Hospital. At Bob's request cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service officiated by Father Haynes on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St Mark's Anglican Church, 268 Main Street, Barriefield Village, Kingston. A reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Mark's Anglican Church or to University Hospitals Kingston Foundation.

So sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was my first and best principal at Royal George in Greenfield Park. We had so many good times but mainly because of Bob's leadership. Sincere sympathy to the family.

I remember Mr. Saul as my first principal. I was in grade 3 at Royal George in Nrs. Foubert's class. That was the year they built the four pink portables. I lived to be asked to to the office to pick up thibgs. He was so nice. I also became a principal abd I would like to think that he had a part in that. I am sorry for your loss.

Dear Debbie and the Saul Family,
I am so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I remember him well both as my principal and from hanging at your house in St. Lambert. He seemed a kind and generous man. My deepest sympathies.

My condolences to the Saul Family on the passing of Bob. I have many good memories of hopping the fence when you lived on Le Royer in St Lambert. Bob turned me on to the Moody Blues and got great pleasure out of playing music through his great sound systems. I still have a Sansui amplifier he gave me in the Seventies. A very nice Man and Family.
