Rochelle BARR Obituary
With strength and courage, on Thursday, September 15, 2016. Beloved daughter of Edith and the late Norman. Loving mother of Zoë, and Stirling Mintz. Dear sister and sister- in-law of Reesa, Monika and Matty Ittah. She will be greatly missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins, family, friends and her devoted dog Ringo. Special thanks to Drs. Mihalcioiu, Tremblay, Lambert, Batist, Ferrario, and all of the staff at the Cedars Cancer Center of MUHC for their tremendous care and compassion. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W. on Sunday, September 18, 12:00 p.m. Burial at Beth Zion Congregation Section, Eternal Gardens Cemetery, Beaconsfield. Shiva at her home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. Donations in Rochelle's memory may be made to the Medical Oncology Research and Care Fund, Dr. Catalin Mihalcioiu c/o Cedars Cancer Foundation, (514) 656-6662 or to the "Rochelle Barr Memorial Fund" c/o the Jewish General Hospital Foundation, (514) 340-8251.

I am very sorry to hear Rochelle is no longer here. For so many of us who spent close years together at McGill, she is alive in our minds...we close our eyes, remove ourselves to silence, and she is there; her friendly smile, easy laugh, funny and open, high cheekbones, so vivid. We all love her in our particular way, how could we not? We were so happy to see her at our last reunion, unaware it would be the last time...so, she lives on in our memories, in our hearts, she is loved. God Bless you Rochelle.

To the Barr family, we are so saddened to hear the news of Rochelle's passing. She was a remarkable woman, smart, beautiful, fun (sarcastic funny), classy and humble, a caring one who made good times great and bad times better. Her tenacity and inner strength over her past few difficult years showed her great character, definitely the "glass half full" type (probably more 3/4 full). We will miss her deeply, always remember her fondly, and we are thinking of you all, hoping you will find peace soon, after this difficult time you are facing with her loss.

Shocked to hear of Rochelle's passing.I have the best memories of her as a student in the School of Architecture at McGill-Bright, full of ideas and a beautiful person. She will be missed and our thoughts will be with her.

I am so sorry to hear about Rochelle. My father, Morty Barmash, and Rochelle, father, Normie Barr, we're not only cousins but extremely close friends. I heard all about Rochelle from my father, who had only wonderful things to say about her, and I contacted her to be my Facebook friend, and we were able to connect that way to one another. My deepest and heartfelt condolences to her whole family. What a tragic loss!

A great spirit is gone. I will always remember her unique laugh, her mannerisms, her wisdom, her humour and those horn-rimmed glasses! So glad I was able to call her a friend for the time we were at school together. You will be missed.
