It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Theodore Cechmistro on July 28, 2013 at the age of 84. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Nadia Verty-Cechmistro, his children Olya (Michael), Leonid, Helene and his beloved granddaughter, Ariana. He will be sadly missed by his sister, Vera Wusaty, his niece, Nina, nephew, Eugene and their families. He had a life long passion for world and Ukrainian politics and had an enormous capacity for debate. He will be remembered for his commitment and many years of service to the Ukrainian community. Among his many accomplishments, he was particularly proud of the creation of L'Entraide Ukrainienne during his presidency of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress- Montreal branch. The family would like to thank the Royal Victoria Hospital for their many years of care and the staff of CHSLD Providence Notre-Dame de Lourdes for their care and kindness. The family will receive condolences on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 30 and 31 from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.- 9 p.m. at Alfred Dallaire Memoria, (3254 rue de Bellechasse, Montreal).
