GIRVAN, William Gordon
(1926 - 2012)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Gordon Girvan at St. Paul's Hospital, Vancouver, B.C., following complications from surgery. Born in Rexton, N.B., he was the youngest son of R.M. (Len) and Maud (McWilliam) Girvan. Gordon worked the majority of his working years with Nordair Airlines in Montreal, Quebec and retired to British Columbia. He was an avid sports enthusiast, held season tickets to B.C. Lions Football games and attended Vancouver Canucks hockey games. His favorite sport was watching the L.P.G.A. tournaments either in person or on T.V. He loved to travel and visited many exotic places during his working years.
He is survived by his brother ; Ron (Dorothy), sisters-in-law ; Thelma (late Mac) and Marianne (late Murray) as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers ; Duncan, Stuart, Mac and Murray.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 20th, 2012 from 12:30 p.m. until time of funeral at 2:00 p.m, Thompson's Funeral Home Chapel, Richibucto, N.B. with Reverend Galen Smith officiating. Interment will be in St. Andrew's United Cemetery at a later date. In Gordon's memory, if so desired, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, C.N.I.B., Salvation Army, Diabetes Society, St. Andrew's Church Restoration Fund or charity of choice. Arrangements are in the professional care of Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto. (523 - 4252).
