I will always be grateful for Martin's kindness soon after we met in translating material such as my grandfather's obituary when I was writing and researching my family history. My condolences to the family.

Dear Kersti, Marie has just told me that you've lost Martin. It's awful to contact you for the first time in 50 years over a great sadness instead of over all the celebrations I'm sure you've had over the years. But please have my deep sympathy, and my address, in case you'd ever like to get in touch. Carole Angier, ex Brainin, [email protected]

I am very sorry to hear about the passing of Professor Puhvel. He was one of my favorite professors from the English department at McGill in the 1970s. Over the years I have often thought of what I learned from him and how interesting his courses were. His folklore course was amazing. I loved the course where we learned to read Old Norse. I wish to extend my deepest condolences to his family and to let them know what a positive impact Professor Puhvel had on his students. May he rest in peace.

I am so sad to learn that you have lost your Martin, Kersti. It is a long time since we have been in contact, but I remember fondly our friendship as younger women and celebrating each others marriages and young children. At this painful time my thoughts are with you and your sons.
