Nancy Butchart Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 23 to Mar. 24, 2012.
July 22, 1947 - March 15, 2012 Nancy passed away in Montreal, her adoptive city of 40 years. She was born and raised in Vancouver, B.C., eventually moving to Montreal to attend McGill University where she earned a Master of Library Science. Nancy worked in the marketing division of Domtar for many years. She later pursued her love of language and put her bilingual skills to use as a translator. Until her recent illness she also enjoyed working at Westmount Public Library. As an emerging mystery writer, her greatest passion was working on her novel and sharing experiences with her writing group. Nancy is predeceased by her father, Ken, and her brother, Ross. She will be missed by her mother, Barbara; sister Eve (Stu); sister-in-law Colleen; nephews Mike and Tony and nieces Becky and Christine, all of B.C. Many thanks to her dear friend, Michel Brisebois of Montreal, who has provided such love and support. No service. Condolences may be received at www.kanefetterly.com.

I just discovered this obituary. I remember Nancy from her stint at the Library of Parliament way back in the summer of 1974. Nancy was bright and disciplined. She was also cute and fun to be with. I offer my sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Nancy and I became best friends at 14. She had a dry and brilliant wit, even then. It is hard to believe that we are not back there having sleepovers and listening to and exchanging 45's. We were full of dreams then.
