Jacqueline McCLINTOCK Obituary

Published by Monteal Gazette on Aug. 30, 2012.
McCLINTOCK, Jacqueline
1957 - 2012
It is with great regret that we announce the passing of Jacqueline McClintock, on Thursday, August 23, 2012. Having endured a struggle with cancer, she died peacefully, in her sleep, at the age of 55, in Toronto. Loving partner of David Ross MacDonald for the past 35 years, cousin of Gerry Cameron (who so generously cared for Jacqueline over the course of her illness), sister of Irene, great friend of Gavin Drummond, Trevor Hayes and Geeta Sondhi, godmother of Veronica and Roxane Drummond. She was predeceased by her cherished relatives aunt Irene McClintock, her uncle Earl McClintock, her aunt Emily McClintock and her uncle Grant McClintock (all of whom took Jacqueline into their homes for a period when she was orphaned as an infant) and her parents Elianne Rodrigue and Donald McClintock (both of Saint-Georges- de-Beauce). Jacqueline was a gifted theatre director, and her acting workshops were followed avidly in Montreal and Toronto, as well as Amsterdam, Munich and Mallorca. Her education included study and training at Bishop's University, the Dome Theatre at Dawson College, Concordia University's film program and the Neighbourhood Playhouse of Theatre in New York City. An indomitable spirit, Jacqueline kept her sense of humour until the very end, even in the face of the darkest hours of her illness. She will be missed terribly by the great many who knew and loved her. The family will receive condolences on Friday, August 31, 2012 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at J.A.Guilbault Funeral Home Inc., 5359 St. Michel Blvd. (corner Masson), Montreal Quebec H1Y 2C8, 514-721-4925. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Brendan's Parish, 3542 Rosemont Blvd., Montreal, thence to St-Lambert Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Jaqueline was a unique person. She was gifted for teaching, teaching LIFE in big words. She understood the complexity of the human nature and the essence of life. However, she transfered us that with a childish simplicity that only some selected can do. It was not about acting, or art but a way to understand human relationships, love, life and happiness. The more she tried to escape from being a master or influence people souls the more deeper she got. I will never forget you

The one, the only, the never to be forgotten. Bless you, beautiful Jacqueline, for sharing your majestic talent and love. Thank you for your steady guidance and piercing insight, that made each of us a better person for knowing you. Thank you most of all for your light, your laughter, and your grace. Shine now forever as a glittering star in the heavens, for all to wish upon.

It only takes a spark to keep the fire going, goes the old campfire song. Today I was privileged to witness at least a hundred beautiful sparks from your touch, that will definitely keep the fire of your spirit going for many many years to come. Rest in peace, Jacqueline.

May your spirit soar and the lives of everyone who knew you be lifted with the joy you brought to all our lives today.

In our last days together: we laughed, we cried, we shared our stories and made plans. Girls once again on the town. I will cherish those last days forever.

Every day since the day you gave it to me, I wore the bracelet you gave me, and wear it still. To let you know that I love you. And never stopped praying for you. The night before you left us, Ajax appeared in my dreams. To let me know that you might be leaving us soon and to give me strength, hope and courage to face your death. He loved you too. And is probably chasing you around now. . .

We were meant to grow old together, but alas, when we meet again, it will be in an unearthly paradise. And I look forward to that day. Until then, be at peace my dear Jacqueline, be at peace. Love you, Suzette.

I first met Jackie when she was just a slip of a woman and quickly became very fond of her. Her vitality and spirited enthusiasm mesmerised and inspired me. She opened the door and lit my path.

Jackie brought into our lives a ray of sunshine, a breath of fresh air and painted our world with such beauty.

My deepest sympathies to her friends and family for your tremendous loss. Our world is a little dimmer without her light.
