Ida's family wishes to announce her passing on December 20th, 2012 at the Rising Sun Long Term Care Centre at the Oilfields General Hospital in Black Diamond, Alberta, where she has been a resident for the past 5 years. Mom was predeceased by her Dad William Dooley in 1934, her mom Mary (Schofield) Dooley in 1936, her precious infant grandson Mark in 1964, her brother William Gerald Dooley in 1989, her husband Roy Robert Thompson Cruise in 1990, her son-in-law Byron Willis in 1998, her son Roy Robert William Cruise in 2005, and her precious great-granddaughter Adria in 2009. Mom was born on January 12th, 1915 in Lachine, Quebec. Her family moved to Hawkesbury, Ontario where she excelled at school and sports. She married Dad in 1936 and they lived in Lachute, Quebec until moving to Brownsburg, Quebec in 1949. Her husband and her children were the most important people in her life - Family. Mom was involved with the Woman's Institute at the Brownsburg United Church. She loved to curl on the women's team, enjoyed baking, knitting, sewing, swimming and being with her family and friends. She moved to Alberta in 1999 and eventually became a resident at the High Country Lodge, where she so enjoyed the other residents and their bus trips to Canmore, Lake Louise and so many other places. After surviving major surgery in 2006, Mom became a resident of Long Term Care. She is loved by her surviving family; her daughter Sandra Willis from Richmond, Ontario, her daughter Diane (Neil) Bates from Millarville, Alberta; Grandchildren Tina (Guy) Simard, Bob (Wanda) Cruise, Jason (Melonie) Willis, Todd (Tamera) Willis, Lisa (Damon) Grover and Garth (Alana) Bates; Great Grandchildren Alexandre and Karianne Simard, Gabryelle Willis, Brayden and Reese Grover and Calie Bates. A sincere, heartfelt Thank You and special acknowledgement is given to all the nursing staff, doctors and hospital departments who contributed to the care of Mom. Their entire 'team' is what medical care is all about. A memorial service was held on Thursday, December 27th, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Snodgrass Funeral Chapel in Okotoks with Chaplain George Clarke officiating, with reception to follow. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ida's memory to the Rising Sun Long Term Care 717 Government Road, Black Diamond, Alberta, T0L 0H0 or to a charity of your choice.
