POTVIN, Douglas J. PhD
1930 - 2013
Doug left us peacefully on January 13th at the LaSalle General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Ellen Scroope and the late Joan Allan, loving father to Allan (Dawn Svoronos), Carol (Kent Wayland) and Stephen (Irene Moore), and dear grandfather of Angela Potvin and Anthony and Matthew Shkuda. Doug loved life. His successes in academia, business and sport, locally, nationally and internationally were numerous. He was an amazing teacher, mentor, coach and leader. Above all he loved his family and he loved living in Montreal. He spent more than 30 years working at Catholic High, Loyola High School and Concordia University and he was passionate about adult education. Doug lived life to the fullest, always ready to begin his next adventure. His positive attitude touched so many. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Visitation will take place at Alfred Dallaire, 7200 Newman Blvd. LaSalle, Quebec on Thursday, January 17th from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday, January 18th from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Ignatius of Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 4455 West Broadway, NDG, on Saturday, January 19th at 11 a.m. A reception to honour Doug's life will be held following the service at Loyola High School, 7272 Sherbrooke St. West in the Casey Lounge on the 3rd floor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Loyola High School Foundation or the charity of your choice.
