Mary TWEEDIE Obituary

Published by Monteal Gazette from Mar. 9 to Mar. 12, 2013.
TWEEDIE, Mary Elizabeth (Gall)
March 28, 1921 - March 7, 2013
Mary Tweedie embraced life right to the end. Devoted to her family, dedicated to her friends, she was happiest among those close to her. But she also loved meeting new people and saw a room full of strangers as an opportunity to make new friends. Life threw a lot at her in the last few years, but her spirits never flagged and she maintained a positive attitude in spite of her disabilities. She was a good person who led a good life. Born in Toronto 91 years ago, Mary married Dr. Frederick John (Ted) Tweedie of Chatham, New Brunswick, while he was serving in the navy in 1943. They settled in Montreal after the war. They lived in the city for about thirty years and then moved to Hudson, Quebec. Mary was predeceased 25 years ago by her husband. When she thought about Ted, which was often, she smiled the smile of fond memories. She leaves behind four children, Kathie, John, David and Charlotte, her wonderful grandson Spencer, many nephews and nieces and two sisters-in-law. Our heart-felt appreciation and thanks to the kind and professional staff at Chateau Westmount where she spent the last four years of her life and to Dr. Paul Lysy, her physician for the last 12 years. Special thanks to Alice Laplante for her care, comfort and friendship. Visitation at the Collins Clarke MacGillivray White funeral home at 5610 Sherbrooke Street West, Montreal, on Monday, March 11th, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will held in the chapel at the same location on Tuesday, March 12th, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to fight Parkinson Disease, a debilitating illness that she did not have, but which has touched the family.

Dear Kathie, John, David and Charlotte,
I was very sad to read of your Mother's passing to-day. She was our neighbour on the Main Road and then I came to know her at Legg's store up until she left Hudson. A very sweet lady..and a lady she was..she always called me Marg. I can still hear her saying it..
Fondly,
Margaret Lagimodiere

You probably don't know us but we remember your Mom when she lived near us in the West end of Hudson. The first time I ever met her, we both were picking wild flowers and stopped to chat. I always remember her warm and friendly smile. Who ever wrote her obituary absolutely captured her.

David, Kathy, Char and John,

Mary was our friend and neighbour. We have wonderful memories of dinners and parties with all of you. Always strong and refined, even when her health slowed her down.

We know your grief will give way to many wonderful memories.

Dear Kathie,John,David and Charlotte. Was so sorry to hear the news about your Mum and the loss you certainly all must be feeling. I only met you Mum a few times but one could quickly recognize the strong character and determination that was within. She was always good company and possessed a strong interest and inquisitiveness with many things. She was quite a person to know and I am thankful I had those times with her.

David, Kathie, Charlotte, How blessed I was to spend New Year's Eve with you Tweedies and your Mom. That feisty spirit was so in evidence..."I'm not ready to leave this party!" is what she communicated so well. I guess she decided at last she was ready to leave the party. How lucky you are to have had her with you for 90+ years.
