March 15, 1946 - April 16, 2013
On Tuesday, April 16 the passing of my courageous mother came to an end. I write this with a heavy heart. It has been a long journey but one that was dealt with dignity and strength, I have not seen before. I was not by your bedside at the exact moment you crossed over, however I felt the release from a body that was no longer needed.
Your soul will forever live, your beautiful face is always a glimpse away. People always said what a fighter your Mom was. I never responded because my Mother was the exact opposite. Never fought, but dealt with challenges in her own way. My Mother's strength came from her faith, there were things she handled with dignity because of her faith, my Mom never felt fear and that is an inspiration to me.
My Mom has always been so very humble. A humble person is someone who does not boast or try to impress themselves on you, they are generally quiet and typically not self-serving, this is a good set of attributes to be seen, but is a very difficult trait to be known for since being humble involves so many behaviours in our lives and is really the opposite of the way most people are living their lives.
My Mom set the bar so very high.
Mom I love you. (Just because ).
Just Because was the song that was written by Anita Baker. My mother and I have listened to this song hundreds of times.
So my Mother, I leave you with this song
I love you just because.
I send a special thank you to Dr. Linda O'Fiara, my Mom's doctor and a very special lady. Thank you Linda, always grateful. Love Tom.
Love your son Tom
Please no flowers, donations instead to the Lung Cancer Foundation.
