1933 - 2013
Eugene Lion died on April 21, 2013 in British Columbia, where he lived for the past ten years. He leaves his wife and collaborator, Jo Lechay; daughters Jenny and Anikke "Angel"; chosen daughter Eva Kyzirides; son-in-law Steven Matheson; grand-goddaughter Destiny Otto and baby granddaughter Augusta Lion. Eugene Lion dedicated his life to the theatre and the performing arts, working as an actor, director, designer and playwright in the U.S., Europe, Mexico, and Canada. He was also known for the innovative techniques of performance and interpretation which he developed and taught widely to actors, dancers, singers, musicians and visual artists. Profoundly human and deeply engaged, Eugene Lion was a rebellious soul with remarkable intelligence and wit. Those whose paths he crossed will not forget him.
