PRETORIUS, Jacques (Jack)
May 16, 1931 – June 20, 2013
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Pretorius who died Thursday June 20th after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 82 at Mount Sinai Hospital in Montreal. Born near Johannesburg South Africa in 1931, he graduated from the University of Witwatersrand, the largest in the country, at the age of 20 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He arrived in Montreal in 1951 and took the position with the Canadian International Paper Company at its Hawkesbury Ontario plant. In 1968 he was appointed Manager of Kraft Board and Paper Sales. In the mid 80s he formed his own company Canam Forest Products Inc. Known to play as hard as he worked, he loved golf and in his younger days was known to play a single digit handicap. He will be remembered for his love of golf and music and his great passion for life. He is predeceased by his brother Theo Pretorius (Susan) and is survived by his sister Sherry Knudsen (Geoff) of Plettenberg Bay, South Africa as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He will also be missed by his many friends including those at the Kanawaki Golf Club. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday June 26th, 2013 at 3:00 p.m.
