It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Margaret Helen Meeks (nee Macfie) in her 96th year on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Forest Hill Nursing Home, Kanata, Ontario. Much loved wife of the late Edward for 58 years. Dear mother of Brian (Lynne) Meeks and Gail (Lloyd) Henderson. Dear sister of Dr. Arthur Macfie and the late Murray Macfie. Dear daughter of the late Robin Macfie and the late Nina Anderson. Cherished grandmother of Allison, Robyn, and Jessica Meeks and Kiersten and Lyndsay Henderson. Beloved great-grandmother of Penelope and Atticus. Dear Aunt of Douglas, Elizabeth, Diane, Gordon and Greg. The second of 3 children, all McGill graduates, Margaret lived a life of educating with over 29 years teaching with the Montreal Protestant School Board. Right up until the time of her passing, Margaret was an avid reader, follower of current events and politics and afternoon soaps and most importantly, best fan of the Ottawa Senators. We would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff of the Forest Hill Nursing Home for the exceptional loving care they gave to Margaret. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Cremation has taken place in Ottawa. A memorial service and burial will take place in Ville St. Laurent, Quebec at Montreal Memorial Park Gardens (Urgel Bourgie) at a later date.
