CONWAY, M. John
John Conway passed away quietly December 14, 2013, at the age of 90. Born in Athlone, County Westmeath, Ireland in 1923, John left his native land in 1948 to find a job in Canada. He found so much more. Quebec's rugged landscape of mixed spruce and maple forests offered the eager young forest engineer opportunities unavailable in his homeland. He met Helen Walsh, the love of his life, and together they raised a family of six in Grand- Mère, Québec. Scoutmaster, Rotarian and church warden, John loved his family, lived his faith, and sustained his community. Predeceased by Helen, John leaves behind his sons Brian, Robert, Bill, and Kevin; his daughters Anne and Lorraine, and eight grandchildren. John is resting at Complexe Funéraire Pellerin, 599, 6e Avenue, Grand-Mère. Visiting hours are Wednesday, December 18th, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. The funeral will take place at 2:00 pm, Thursday December 19th at Saint Patrick's Church, 340 rue Whitehead, Trois-Rivières. Burial will take place at the Union Cemetery in Grand-Mère at a later date.
