BOURDEAU DE FONTENAY, Hervé
1948 - 2014
Hervé de Fontenay died peacefully on January 4, 2014, at home surrounded by his family. He will be mourned by his wife, Linda Gaboriau, and their children, Guillaume (Céline Ceillier), Sébastien, Yves (Irena Lesiv) and Melissa Auf der Maur (Tony Stone), and by Guillaume and Sébastien's mother, Danièle de Fontenay. He will be sorely missed by his granddaughters, Gabrielle, Juliette, River and Sasha and fondly remembered by his sisters and brothers, Cécile, Françoise, Yves, Geneviève, Isabelle, Marie-Madeleine, Véronique and Bruno, by his sister-in-law, Celeste (the late Alain) and many nephews and nieces. Hervé was loved and appreciated for his generosity and sensitivity to others by family, friends and all those whose lives he touched in his distinguished career as a language professor and director of the Department of Languages and Intercultural Studies at McGill University's School of Continuing Studies. He was the author of essays that reflect his social commitment and his love of art and beauty, and poetry that reflects his profound humanity. The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Pollak, Dr. Maurice Anidjar and Marina Ziskin at the Jewish General Hospital and Dr. Louise Lessard of the CLSC Saint- Louis-du-Parc, for their outstanding care and commitment. The family will receive condolences on January 20, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Memoria, 4231 boulevard Saint- Laurent. Valet parking will be available. Testimonies in celebration of Hervé's life will be heard beginning at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Fondation du Dr. Julien would be appreciated.
