William Hugh Lewis Obituary
William Hugh Lewis, 99, of Moore County, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2016 at the Lynchburg Nursing Center. Mr. Lewis was born on Jan. 15, 1917, in Lincoln County, Georgia, to the late George and Thersie Lewis. Mr. Lewis was a faithful member of Providence Baptist Church in Shady Dale, Ga., with his wife Lola for 50 years. Even though he was unable to attend in the last several years, Mr. Lewis was still faithful to his home church. He was a competitive card player, past golfer and an avid University of Georgia football fan. He was a great family man and a supporter of many in need. In addition to his parents Mr. Lewis is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Lola Mae Brown Lewis, son-in-law, Terry Abrams and a host of siblings. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, daughters, Linda Lewis (Jerry) Garden and Donna Lewis Abrams; granddaughter, Dr. Tanya Garden (Rick) Goette; two great-grandchildren, Wil Goette and Morgan Goette; siblings, Paul Lewis, Laree Boykin and Donald Lewis. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, at the Providence Baptist Church in Shady Dale, Ga. Interment will be held in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Ed Westbrook will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 18 at Jordan Funeral Home 264 Hillsboro Street, Monticello, GA 31064. Jennings-Moore Cortner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
