Billy Lee Brasel, 65, went to meet his heavenly father on June 28, 2017, after a seven-year battle with cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife Linda Carroll-Brasel; five children and their spouses, Tonia and Johnny Justes, Tammy and Marvin Howard, Misty and Rusty Hamby, Bill and Jennifer Brasel and Keith and Kimberly Brasel; and 11 grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Daniel, Derrick and Donovan Justes, Andrew, Tabitha and Samuel Howard, Austin and Madison Hamby, Lauren Brasel and Kinlea and Kaden Brasel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Edna Settles-Brasel; and a host of other loved ones.
Billy was a Veteran of the United States Army Aviation Division. He successfully completed the Aircraft Maintenance Course where he received the Distinguished Graduate Award for being the top in his class.
Billy was a faithful member of Wartburg First Baptist Church. His favorite past-times included 'tinkering' on vehicles, 'piddling' in the garage, camping, fishing, spending time with his family and listening to his grandchildren sing.
The family received friends on Friday, June 30, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg. Funeral services followed at 7 p.m. with Rev. James Foster and Rev. Tom Mooty officiating, assisted by Rev. Holly Miller. Graveside services and burial were held at the Brasel Home Place on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at 11 a.m.
