Dawson Howard

Dawson H. Howard, of Lancing, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Oct. 28, 2017.
Dawson worked for many years as a surveyor with Adams, Crafts, Hertz and Walker of Oak Ridge. Dawson also served as a county commissioner in the 4th district of Morgan County. He served his country by serving in the United States Air Force. Dawson was an Airman First Class from 1963-67. He was in the 456th CES at Tuy Hoa in 1966-67 and later at Phan Rang in 1967.
He loved the Lord, his family and serving his country.
Dawson was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years Betty; parents, D.G. & Oma Howard; and sisters, Marjorie Parks and Sybill Armes.
He is survived by his three daughters, Glenda and Mitchell Dyer, their children, Curtis Dyer, Sarah Dyer, Alex and wife Cassie Dyer all of Wartburg; Donna and Rocky Laughter of Lancing, their children, Jessica and Adam Pappas of Wartburg, Michael (Chip) and wife Barbara Laughter of Crossville and James (Thump) Laughter of Lancing; Kim and Paul Monroe, their children, Autumn and finance' Michael Wilson, Kaitlynn and Seth Monroe all of Maryville. Dawson also has nine great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends that he loved and cared for very much.
The family received friends Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg. The funeral followed at 7 p.m. with Bro. Doyle Nance officiating. Graveside was held Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Clear Creek Cemetery in Lancing with Military Honors.
