Lawrence L. Moore, 99, of Harriman, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 at his home.
He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. Brother Lawrence Lee Moore was born in Coalfield, Tenn., Morgan County, on May 23, 1914. He was educated in Coalfield High School, with advanced studies in welding, blue print and structural designing. Bro. Moore was raised in Alpha Lodge #376, Clinton, Tenn., January 12, 1946. York Rite affiliation; Chapter in April 1953; Council in April 1953; Commander in 1953. Past Patron Laurel Chapter 22 Order of the Eastern Star. Scottish Rite; 32nd degree on October 1 & 2, 1954; KCCH October 18, 1971; Honorary 33rd degree on December 17, 1977; Past President Scottish Rite Club, 1976; Appointed Grand Representative of the Grand Lodge of Delaware, to the Grand Lodge of Tennessee in 1978 (Lifetime Appointment). Served two terms on the Roane County Court; served ten years on the Board of Directors of GT Corporation; served on the planning commission for the city of Harriman. Was appointed an Honorary Kentucky Colonel in 1992 and likewise appointed an Honorary Tennessee Colonel in 1986. Owner/operator of Service Welding Shop; a family business with his wife, Edith and sons, Jack Lee Moore and Jerry Albert Moore, from 1956 to 1982. One of eleven to organize little league sports (baseball, softball, football, and basketball) in Harriman, in 1958.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Edith Moore; and several brothers and sisters.
Mr. Moore is survived by his children, Jack Moore and late wife Annette of Wartburg, Sherrian Casebier of Harriman, Jerry Moore and wife Ineta of Rockwood and Jennie Boardman and husband Larry of Marietta, Ga.; sister-in-law, Loretta Johnson of Clinton; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 with a Masonic service following at 6:45 p.m. at Kyker Funeral Home Harriman. Funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in Kyker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mason Goodman officiating. Interment will be held Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Roane Memorial Gardens.
