Robert Jones LENOIR Mr. Robert "Bob" Alfred Jones, 84, of Lenoir, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at the Gateway Nursing Center in Lenoir. Born Sept. 29, 1928, in Hickory, Bob was a son of the late Ivey Ray and Minnie Louise Benfield Jones. Bob was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a travel agent for many years and had spent time traveling all over the world. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Harvey Jones and Hershel "Cub" Jones; one sister, Jewel Jones Coffield; a nephew, Robert Coffield; and his faithful pet of 17 years, Tedi. Survivors include a brother, Wabe Jones and wife, Hilda, of Valdese; three nephews, Gary Jones and wife, Gwen, of Valdese, Hershel "Kit" Jones Jr., of Morganton, and Harvey Jones and wife, Debbie, of Valdese; two nieces, Susan Jones, and Kathy Wellman, both of Valdese; three great-nieces, Lisa Norris and husband, Marty, of Lenoir and Tracy Franklin and husband, Scott, of Shallotte, and Missy Jones, of Granite Falls; a great-nephew, Alan Jones, of Valdese; and a great-niece, Lindsay Coffield, of Valdese. A celebration of Bob's life will be held today (Sunday, Dec. 30), at 2 p.m., at the Bollinger's Chapel Church cemetery, with Chaplain Nancy Campbell officiating.
