James Luckadoo Obituary

James Phifer Luckadoo, 85, of Shady Rest Road in Morganton died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.
He was born March 15, 1925, in Burke County to the late Jasper Lee Luckadoo and Viola Rose Causby Luckadoo. He was a charter member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church and held numerous church positions, including church treasurer for many years. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a retired employee of Carolina Shoe Co.
He is survived by his sons, Jimmie Luckadoo of Morganton and Carl Luckadoo and wife Laura of Hickory; grandchildren Ashley Davis and husband Lawrence, Traci Luckadoo and David Lucadou; a great-granddaughter, Lela Davis; and a sister, Ruth Champion of Gastonia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hilma Barrier Luckadoo, and a sister, Betty L. Dellinger.
The funeral will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, in St. Matthews United Methodist Church with the Rev. Alan Boliek and the Rev. Terry Duckworth officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park with military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral.
