Opal was always the most loving, caring aunt imaginable. She reminded us so much of Bea and became like a second mother to us. We will always cherish our visits with her and our phone calls when we were unable to visit. She was such a dear lady and will never be forgotten. Our heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to Alan, Brenda, Mary Nell, all the grandchildren, Ruth, and Shirley. We are so sorry we will be unable to attend the funeral services because of Stan's deteriorating health and his inability to travel. With Love, Stan & Linda (Franklinton,NC)

I would like to say that there could never have been a better grandmother than the one God blessed me with . For those of you that knew her, and for those that didn't, she was a blessing to her family. Even though she grew up in one of the most difficult periods of time duing the depression...had a hard life compared to today's standards, family was ALWAYS her number one priority. She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking and feeding anyone that cared to stop by to say hello. She was well known for the items that she crochet and making baby layetts for the wee ones was something she enjoyed doing. "Nennie" enjoyed company and she liked nothing better than to have someone pop in for a visit. She was fierce in her love for her family....and would have stood up against a bear if it had threatened her family. I have great respect for everything she stood for.....for her life and love is testament to what she held dear. I am going to greatly miss you...my life will never be the same and I look forward to spending eternity with you where the sickness and the pain and heartbreak are gone. Rest in peace and go in love to be with our maker who will grant you peace and rest.
Love, your granddaughter Sandra.
