Thomas Dean Ramsey VALDESE Thomas Dean Ramsey, 77, of Connelly Springs, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Valdese General Hospital following a period of declining health. Thomas was born Aug. 2, 1935, in Cleveland County to the late Thomas Grady and Mamie Ledford Ramsey. Mr. Ramsey was a United States Air Force Veteran and a member of New Beginning Church, Hildebran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Grace Ramsey; two granddaughters, Sgt. Brandy Renee White and Jordan Coffey; one grandson, Ray Bryson Price; and one brother, Norman Adrin Ramsey. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Grace Cartee Ramsey, of the home; one son, Mark Dean Ramsey, of Tennessee; four daughters, Cecelia Mayfield, of Rutherford College, Cynthia Trout, of Bristol, Ind., Maria McDaniel, of Morganton and Julie Coffey, of Lenoir. Also surviving are one brother, Joel Ramsey, of Drexel; two sisters, Lucy Luckadoo, of Fallston and Portia Newton, of Forest City; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 13, in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul David Kurts. Graveside services will be held Friday, Sept. 14, at 12 p.m. at the North Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Thursday, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese. Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society P.O.
