Carolyn Thomas Brink (nee: Grimley), 76 years of age, and a resident of Amherst Twp., passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Carolyn was born January 18, 1936 in South Amboy, New Jersey where she was raised and graduated from St. Mary's High School in South Amboy. Amherst Twp. has been her home for the last 28 years.
Carolyn graduated from Lorain County Community College with a Associates Degree and was employed at the Lorain County Community College as an Administrative Associate retiring in 2002. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting, crocheting, quilting and rug hooking. She was an avid reader and also liked to play word games and puzzles. Her pastime was feeding and observing the birds.
Survivors include her husband Jim Brink of 36 years; brother Chris Grimley and wife Nell of Virginia; sons David Thomas and his wife Elaine of New Jersey, Ken Thomas and his wife Tanya of Wakeman, Jimm Brink and his wife Chris of North Carolina, Chris Brink Sr. and his wife Chrissy of Vermilion; daughters Karen Thomas and her fiancée Marco Cutrone of Denville, New Jersey, Jacqui Thomas of Lorain; grandchildren Amanda, David, Cadence, Christopher, Jasmina, William, Alexia.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her first husband of 15 years George Thomas in 1973; and parents Christopher and Anna Elizabeth Grimley (nee: Peterson).
Friends may call Tuesday, December 18, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Burial will take place in Key Port, New Jersey.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Meister Road Group Home, 4609 Meister Road, Lorain, Ohio 44053.
