ELYRIA – Joan C. Reaser, (nee Rothgery), 79, of Elyria passed away Thursday July 17, 2014 at the Life Care Center of Elyria following a long illness.
She was born January 5, 1935 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria resident.
A 1952 Elyria Catholic High School graduate,
Joan was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Elyria where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She also served as a Ecumenical Minister at EMH Regional Healthcare for more than 20 years.
Joan was a dedicated mother and grandmother and a #1 fan of the Outdoor Options and Duck Dynasty television shows.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Cecil; daughter, Nancy Reaser of Elyria; sons, Dan Sr. (Mila) Reaser and Tony (Karlene) Reaser both of Elyria; son-in-law, Mark Meecha of Elyria; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Bob) Andrewski of Elyria; brothers, Kenneth (Karen) Rothgery and Donald (Marcia) Rothgery both of Elyria; special friend, Regina Speidel.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shari Meecha, son, Steve Reaser, parents, Leona Rogers (nee-Laubenthal) and Sylvester "Bus" Rothgery, sisters, Alice Bott-Weber and Laurette Murray.
The family will receive friends Friday (today) 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt 57), Elyria.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar St., Elyria. (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.) The Rev. Fr. Frank Kosem and the Rev. Fr. Alan Laubenthal will be the Celebrants. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the helping Hands Food Bank at St. Jude Church.
