Murray, John Jerome "Jack"* - Lorain  
AMHERST TOWNSHIP – John "Jack" Jerome Murray of Amherst Township went home to be with the Lord at the age of 79 on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at University Hospital in Elyria following an illness. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 11, 1936. Upon graduating from Northeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. After receiving an honorable discharge, he moved to Amherst, married Jacqueline Buell, and began working as an industrial painter. He spent 30 years in the paint department at Ford. In 1962, he and his wife founded the Country Day School, which the family owned and operated until 2003. Jack lived his deep faith in Christ by serving as a lay Methodist minister at area churches including Old Stone UMC and Brighton Methodist Church. Throughout his life, he worked tirelessly to improve his community as a volunteer with organizations including New Life Hospice and Voices for Children. His interests included stained glass working, automobile restoration, traveling, scuba diving, and correspondence. Jack was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jerome and Kathryn Murray (nee Cooney), and sister, Mary Ferrizzi. He is survived by the love of his life Jacqueline "Jackie" Murray (nee Buell), his wife of 58 years, his sisters, Kaye Randall and Margaret "Peggy" Ford, his children John (Debbie) of Lorain, Jeff (Betsy) of Amherst, Jim (Faith) of Amherst Township, and Janelle Murray (Kevin Schofield) of Carlisle Township, 6 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. A memorial will be held at Old Stone Church on Wednesday, June 22, at 6:00 p.m. located at 553 S Main St, Amherst, OH 44001. Porter Jr., Arthur*  
LORAIN – Arthur Porter Jr. 72, of Lorain, passed away June 11, 2016 in his home unexpectedly. He was born June 11, 1944 in Boydell, Ark and had lived in Lorain most of his life. He was a Vietnam Army Veteran. He was a member of Church on the North Coast. He enjoyed reading and movies. He is survived by his son Arthur Porter III; 2 grandchildren, and a host of other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Porter Jr. and Viola Smith. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2016 from 10:00AM until time of service at 11:00AM at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway in Lorain, Ohio.
