Alma R. (Gardner) Bruce(1928-2014)

Alma Rae Bruce
LORAIN – Alma Rae Bruce (nee Gardner) went home to be with the Lord on June 1, 2014, after a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her loved ones as she made her final journey home. She was born in Romney, W. Va., on August 27, 1928, and lived most of her adult life in Lorain, Ohio, in the home her husband built.
Alma attended Lorain Business College, but devoted her energies to being a dedicated home maker, mother and grandmother to her family, and neighborhood children. She enjoyed reading, gardening, floral decorating, traveling and all facets of nature.
She faithfully attended Church On The North Coast in Lorain until her health began to decline. Her three favorite hymns were "In The Garden," "He Touched Me," and "How Great Thou Art". She never wavered in her faith and love of Jesus Christ. The family is comforted in knowing that her time of pain and suffering is over, and that she is now happily in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We look forward to the day when we shall be together again in Paradise!
She is survived by all of her children: Calvin E. Bruce, Jr., Atlanta, Ga.; Glenn A. Bruce, Kent, Ohio; Janet Y. Castaneda (John), Villa Hills, Ky.; Robert V. Bruce (Wendy), Lorain, Ohio; Keith R. Bruce (Tia), Atlanta, Ga. She also leaves behind five beloved grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends who called her "Mom Bruce".
She is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin E. Bruce, Sr.; both parents, Raymond and Agnes; and her sister, Joyce Sims.
Visitation will be held Saturday June 7, 2014 from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM at Living Word Church 658 East Erie Ave Lorain, with Pastor Ruth Ann Pugh of Designer's Original Ministries of Lorain officiating. The family wish to express their deep appreciation for all of the prayers, expression of condolence, and many acts of kindness shown at this time.
