Anna Mae McPhie
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Anna Mae McPhie (nee Nemeth), 92, passed peacefully away at her daughter's house in Florida on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born in Lorain, Ohio on June 9, 1920, graduated from Lorain High in 1938, and happily spent most of her life as a homemaker in Lorain.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy McPhie Maple and Nancy's three sons Tommy, Scott, and John Maple of Gainesville, Fla.; by her son Jon McPhie and his children, Kelsey and Ian McPhie of North Ridgeville; by her late son Al's children, Chris McPhie of Akron and Jennifer McPhie Stull of Avon, and by four great-granddaughters.
Anna Mae was preceded in death by her husband John McPhie; her son Alan McPhie; her brother Louis "Lutzie" Nemeth; and all five of her sisters.
Anna Mae was deeply proud of her family and friends and loved her neighborhood in Lorain. Her heart never left West 40th Street, and the times she shared with her neighbors and growing family would make up the most indelible memories of her life. A lover of singing and dancing, Anna Mae touched many hearts in her later years. Her laughter and warm smile were infectious, and her lasting legacy is one of happiness, laughter and love. She will be missed by many.
A gravesite memorial service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, 44805 North Ridge Road, Amhert, OH 44001.
