NEW MEXICO - Charles Vernon "Harley Charlie" Archie, 65, of New Mexico and formerly of Lorain, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at the Specialty Hospital of Lorain after a long illness.
He was born in Ironton on May 1, 1948, to the late William and Dora Archie. He attended Clearview High School and then entered the U.S. Army
serving in Vietnam in the 3/5 CAV 101st Airborne. When Charles returned from the service, he was employed at the former United States Steel Corporation in Lorain for 18 years and then became a transporter for E & L Transport in Lorain for 10 years. During his lifetime he enjoyed fishing, western books, television, movies and his 1969 Chevy Truck "Old Blue".
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Tena K. (nee Lafferty); son, Todd Krase of California; two daughters, Melissa (Michael) Kelley-Zaenglein of Lorain and Jessica Lafferty of Elyria; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pat Reynolds of Lorain and Peg (Charles) Howard of New Mexico; one brother, Bill Archie of Ohio; and his pet Chihuahua, ""Chiquita"".
Private services will be held.
