Earl G. Berg HENRIETTA TOWNSHIP — Earl G. Berg, age 91, of Henrietta Twp., died on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at New Life Hospice in Lorain. He was born on July 1, 1921 in Henrietta Township and has lived there his entire life. He graduated from Henrietta High School in 1939. He was a lifelong dairy and grain farmer. He was a member of the Henrietta United Church of Christ where he sang in the choir, was a Sunday school teacher, Deacon, and Elder. Earl served as the church Treasurer for 25 years. He belonged to the Lorain County Farm Bureau and was a Lorain County Grange member for 75 years where he held many offices. He also was a member of Pomona Grange #79, State, and National Grange. He always had his Grange degree work memorized no matter what degree it was. He also bowled on the Henrietta Grange bowling team and was an excellent bowler. Earl enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, singing in a barber shop quartet, and taking art classes. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Geraldine (Lauer) Berg; a daughter Jennifer (Brent) Westover, of Vermilion; a brother Ralph Berg, of Henrietta; two nieces, Grace (Rev. Randall) Gehres, of Orville, Ohio, and Ruth (Kenneth) Searles, of Dafter, Mich.; a brother-in-law Glen Gerstacker, of Henrietta; and a sister-in-law Idabelle Berg, of Henrietta. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Mary (Heidrich) Berg, a sister Kathryn Gerstacker, and his brother Charles Berg. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 24, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper Street, Wakeman. There will be a Grange Service at 7:00 pm. On Thursday, April 25, there will be visitation from 10:30 am until the time of services at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Reverend Paul Eaton will be officiating. Burial will follow at Birmingham Cemetery.
