Ellen M. (McCoy) Eldridge

SOUTH AMHERST - Ellen M. (nee McCoy) Eldridge, age 71, and a resident of South Amherst, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014, at the Cleveland Clinic following a sudden illness.
Ellen was born July 28, 1942, in Morgan County, Ohio, and lived for the last 50 years in South Amherst.
Ellen served in the cafeteria of South Amherst Middle School for 20 years retiring in 2002. She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star Chapter #19 in Morgan County. Ellen loved to bowl and was heavily involved in youth sports with her children when they were younger. By far her favorite past time was that of spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-four yearsWilliam Eldridge, Sr.; her daughters, Beverly (Tim) Baker and Dee (Jim) Sharp all of Kipton; five grandchildren, Bobbie, Lyndsey, Kelcey, T.J. and Will; three great grandchildren, Taylor, Hailee, and Kayleen; and her sister Carole (Richard) McInturf of Morgan County.
Ellen was preceded in death by her son, William Eldridge, Jr,. in 2006; her parents, Harry and Laura (nee Cheadle) McCoy; and by her step mother, Mae McCoy.
Friends may call Tuesday, May, 13, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Charles Livermore, assistant pastor of Kipton Community Church will officiate.
