SHEFFIELD LAKE - Hazel Hughes (nee Hall), 94, of Sheffield Lake for the past 30 years and formerly of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Fairview Hospital, from a sudden illness. She was born on May 28, 1919 in Millstone, Kentucky.
Hazel worked for Color Bar Printing in Cleveland where she packaged calendars and has worked for Leff Lighting where she was a punch machine opperator. Hazel was a member of Trinity Free Will Baptist Church in Cleveland. She attended 1st Baptist Church of Sheffield Lake and was involved in the Margaret Sunday School Class. Hazel loved to do crossword puzzles and watch Christian T.V.
She is survived by son, William A. Hughes (Myrtle) of Sheffield Lake; grandchildren, Dwayne, Gregory, Lisa, John, Eric, Chrystal, Belinda, Jessie, Pam, Jimmy, and Sherry; many great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ruby Burns of Kentucky and Ruth Crowe of Florida.
Hazel is preceded in death by husband of 43 years Elzie; parents; daughter, Doris Wolfe; three infant children; and siblings, Lettie Gibson and Samuel Newsome.
Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake, from 7-9 p.m. on Friday. Funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, 633 Harris Rd, Sheffield Lake on Saturday, September 14, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dempsey Miller from Lorain Baptist Church to officiate. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brookpark.
